Moving Forward Update 2

It's been a several weeks since my first update on how it's going with my new year goals. I thought I'd share a little how it's been, what is working and what I still am working on.

First, I've had to keep reminding myself that these goals are in addition to my normal goals and responsibilities in life. Being a homeschool, stay-at-home mom with 3 little ones and pregnant with our 4th, I am busy. I know I am just preaching to the choir, but it is challenging just to do all the normal homeschooling, house work, cooking, taxi driving, and child raising.
Oh yeah! And I am kinda growing a small human.
This small human doesn't let mommy sleep much and has an ever growing list of symptoms that are letting me know she is getting bigger! Of course, I love pregnancy, but you have to admit there are a handful of not so pleasant factors. ;)

Challenging as it is, I am still working towards my goals!

If you remember the quote from my Moving Forward new year goals post….

"If you can't fly, then run.
If you can't run, then walk.
If you can't walk, then crawl.
But whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward."
~Martin Luther King Jr.

I feel like some days I am flying and then there are days I am barely crawling by. Some days can start out really awesome! I'm running along and then, WAM, something happens and I get nothing else done.
I am learning that is okay. My controlling type A personality, is learning to let it go and just keep pressing forward at whatever speed I need to.

With all that said….I feel like God is revealing to me, my ever desperate need, to draw my strength from him. I simply cannot do it all. What I can do, I still need him to keep me focused and my heart in the right place.

So on to my goals for this year and how it is going!

Get Moving!
I think this is the one area I haven't done as well on. I am doing more then I was in December, so I still think that is progress. :) I have managed to get 1-3 days of yoga in each week. I'd like that number to be 5-7. However, some days we are very physically active! Like the day we went to the zoo, or when we run a million errands in one day! haha
I have had to slow down some here and there. Baby girl has grown quite a bit this month and I'm starting to feel it when I am on my feet too much. Thankfully, I have Young Living's Lavender and Gentle Baby essential oils to rub all over my tight tummy during those days. (If you'd like more info on what oils I use go here. Get your own oils here.)
Braxton Hicks are not fun. They say they aren't painful….yet when I have them, I am left on the heating pad.

Moving Spiritually
As I mentioned before, Scott and I have committed to reading through the bible in a year. This has been the area I am most thrilled with myself! I have never read through the whole bible from cover to cover. So this is very important. Using the Bible app on my iPhone has been a tremendous help.
I always have my phone with me so it's easy to get the reading done whenever I have a spare moment. If I fall behind a day or two, it isn't overwhelming to catch up.
This has been a goal that my heart and spirit has needed desperately! I have noticed my attitude and patience with the kids are much better. I have felt calmer. Scott and I have had great conversations about the different topics we are reading about. Also, I have noticed more details to the stories I never picked up on before. Overall, this goal is going excellent!

Moving Creatively
I have managed to get a Valentine's Day Wreath made and do a few things with the kids here and there. I have so many projects I want to do. Our house is still for sell and has stalled a lot of my pursuits. I don't want to get into any big or messy projects when the house needs to stay clean.

Moving in Business
January was a bit of a slow month. Recovering from the holiday's and dealing with January weather, changed some of my plans. My Valentine's Day themed DIY Make and Take had to be rescheduled due to the freak snow storm! LOL
We don't get very many snow days here in Arkansas….plan an event for two months, and that will be the only day it snows in the whole month!
I have some more events in the works and excited to see what all February brings!

Moving Towards Serving Others
Serving others right now is looking like helping friends and bringing a yummy meal to someone who is unable to be up and about. We seek out daily ways to serve others in our community, neighborhood or family. I do still want to get more involved at our church. I love serving in the children's ministry. As soon as we figure out where we are moving I feel like I will be able to commit. We have such a large search area, it is possible we may end up changing campuses.

 Moving Outta This House!!!
I wish I could add some emojicons here to express this roller coaster! lol
We have had several showings, but no offers. Bleh
Waiting, fasting and praying for God's timing.
Funny story, Scott and I were sitting on the couch one evening discussing how close baby girl is to being here and how badly we still need to sell and move. We hear Brooklyn from the other room singing her heart out, the same phrase over and over, "My God is so big, my God is so strong! There is nothing my God can not do for you!".
Scott and I smiled at each other and took that as a little reminder from our loving Father.

Keep Focused on Moving Forward
I have made lots and lots of lists! Ha! I am a list girl and love to make a list for everything!
I have been making a daily list to get done. Some days I do well at crossing the "to do's" off and others not so much.
I still want to make a vision board. That is tricky with the house on the market and trying to keep the clutter down. Maybe I'll try a virtual vision board for now…

Here are a few scriptures that have stood out to me recently…

"Turn to the Lord for help in everything you do, and you will be successful."
Proverbs 16:3

"I will teach you wisdom's ways and lead you in straight paths. When you walk, you won't be held back; when you run, you won't stumble. Take hold of my instructions; don't let them go. Guard them, for they are the key to life."
Proverbs 4:11-13

"Look straight ahead and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. Don't get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil"
Proverbs 4:25-27

"But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will sing to the Lord because he is good to me."
Psalms 13:5-6
